From Axminster to Colyton

Wagg N Purr’s Pantry has grown through change, community and one very special dog. What began as a high street pet shop in 2016 is now a pantry centred on real food, natural treats and friendly local service.

How we got here

A little pantry shaped by change

Each move helped us understand what mattered most: honest products, practical help and a shop rooted in its community.

2016 — Axminster

We first opened on South Street, selling toys, pet accessories and raw dog food to local pets and their people.

2019 — A new direction

As high-street costs rose and footfall fell, we temporarily moved our freezers and stock home while searching for the right long-term space.

2020 — Colyton

Our new home brought beautiful dog-walking routes, a thriving local community and Finn’s next door for coffee and cake by the river.

Mya, the Alaskan Malamute who inspired Wagg N Purr’s Pantry and Mya’s Munchies

Why raw?

Our story starts with Mya

Our passion for raw feeding began with Mya, our beloved Alaskan Malamute. During her early adult years, she struggled with recurring anal gland problems and spent far too much time visiting the vet. We were advised to try Royal Canin, and that recommendation started us asking more questions about nutrition, ingredients and the effect food can have on a dog’s wellbeing.

For Mya, switching to raw made an enormous difference. Her repeated vet visits stopped, and she was finally comfortable again. The change in her food transformed her quality of life. From that point on, all our dogs have been raw fed.

Mya lived a long and happy life. She sadly passed away in July 2024, just shy of her 15th birthday on 17 August.

We dedicated our own natural treat range to Mya: a lasting tribute to the dog who inspired our journey into raw feeding and helped shape everything the pantry stands for today.
